Deployment Guide for SmartInternz Project
This guide provides steps to deploy the SmartInternz full-stack application, including both backend and frontend.
Backend Deployment
-
Choose a hosting platform
You can deploy the backend on platforms like Heroku, AWS EC2, DigitalOcean, or any VPS that supports Node.js.
- Prepare the backend for deployment
- Ensure your environment variables (e.g.,
MONGODB_URL, PORT) are set in the hosting environment.
- Use a process manager like
pm2 to keep the server running.
- Deploy the backend
- Push your backend code to the hosting platform.
- Install dependencies with
npm install.
- Start the server with
npm start or node server.js.
- Configure MongoDB
- Use a cloud MongoDB service like MongoDB Atlas or your own MongoDB server.
- Update the
MONGODB_URL environment variable accordingly.
Frontend Deployment
- Build the React app
- Navigate to the frontend directory.
- Run
npm run build to create a production build in the build folder.
- Choose a hosting platform
- You can host the frontend on platforms like Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, or any static file hosting service.
- Deploy the frontend
- Upload the contents of the
build folder to your hosting platform.
- Configure the frontend to use the correct backend API URL (set environment variable
REACT_APP_API_URL to your backend URL).
Additional Notes
- Make sure CORS is properly configured on the backend to allow requests from your frontend domain.
- Secure your environment variables and API keys.
- Test the deployed application thoroughly to ensure all features work as expected.
For detailed platform-specific deployment instructions, refer to the documentation of the chosen hosting provider.
