Deployment Guide for SmartInternz Project

This guide provides steps to deploy the SmartInternz full-stack application, including both backend and frontend.

Backend Deployment

  1. Choose a hosting platform
You can deploy the backend on platforms like Heroku, AWS EC2, DigitalOcean, or any VPS that supports Node.js.

  2. Prepare the backend for deployment
    • Ensure your environment variables (e.g., MONGODB_URL, PORT) are set in the hosting environment.
    • Use a process manager like pm2 to keep the server running.
  3. Deploy the backend
    • Push your backend code to the hosting platform.
    • Install dependencies with npm install.
    • Start the server with npm start or node server.js.
  4. Configure MongoDB
    • Use a cloud MongoDB service like MongoDB Atlas or your own MongoDB server.
    • Update the MONGODB_URL environment variable accordingly.

Frontend Deployment

  1. Build the React app
    • Navigate to the frontend directory.
    • Run npm run build to create a production build in the build folder.
  2. Choose a hosting platform
    • You can host the frontend on platforms like Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, or any static file hosting service.
  3. Deploy the frontend
    • Upload the contents of the build folder to your hosting platform.
    • Configure the frontend to use the correct backend API URL (set environment variable REACT_APP_API_URL to your backend URL).
